Rayman is back, as Ubisoft confirms the long-rumored Rayman Legends remake is coming this year

Rayman, Globox, Barbara, and Grand Minimus run through Rayman Legends Retold's opening forest level.

Ubisoft has confirmed the long-rumored Rayman Legends remake at today's PlayStation State of Play, with Rayman Legends Retold set to launch on October 1, 2026.

Despite being the last game in the series to release – way back in 2013 – Rayman Legends is the game Ubisoft has decided to remake for the series' grand return. Rayman Legends Retold is Rayman Legends, but with a fresh coat of paint – namely, ditching the 2D hand-drawn aesthetic for a 3D makeover. However, despite the 3D characters, the game is playing in 2D just like the original, but it's not a straight remake, as Ubisoft is seemingly adding new levels to the game where you ride a dragon in 3D Star Fox-like levels.

Also showcased was the voice acting, which seemingly features the return of Rayman's long-time voice actor David Gasman (who first played the character in Rayman 2). The rest of the crew is also voiced, but I wasn't able to place them – although Globox really sounds like Patrick Star from SpongeBob SquarePants. And as is tradition, Barbara has a Scottish accent that really doesn't sound like it was done by a Scottish person.

The game is set to launch on October 1, 2026. Obviously, being a PlayStation State of Play, only a PS5 version was confirmed, but known leaker Billbil-Kun revealed Switch 2 box art for the game earlier today (and yes, it's a Game-Key Card), and claims it'll be launching for 40$. They also claim pre-ordering it will grant access to Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, which wasn't shown in the showcase.

Rayman Legends may be one of the best games of 2013, and if it's remake is as good as that we'll be looking at one of the best new games of 2026 too
