"Raw sewage" has been overflowing into a Wirral park for "days", causing a "health hazard".
A blocked drain at Vale Park in New Brighton has caused sewage to overflow, creating a stench and leaking onto the grass and footpaths, according to residents. Twitter user Jay See sent a tweet to Labour MP for Wallasey Angela Eagle, saying: "Vale Park has a drain overflowing with raw sewage, it's a health hazard and has been like that for days".
Ms Eagle replied: "I will contact United Utilities and see what they are going to do about it."

United Utilities confirmed the issue is being caused by a blocked drain in Vale Park, but stated it is not their asset. Wirral Council is working to resolve the issue.
After two unsuccessful attempts by the council to clear the obstruction, it has commissioned a drainage survey in order to locate the blockage and clear it. Today, cleaners worked to remove mess on the footpath and grass, but the bandstand remains closed.
A Wirral Council spokesperson told the ECHO : "We are in the process of dealing with what appears to be a blocked drain close to Vale House Community Centre in Vale Park. Engineers have visited the site on two occasions and tried to clear the blockage using rodding and jetting methods, which have not been successful. We have now commissioned a CCTV Drainage Survey to be carried out which should pinpoint the blockage and get it cleared as soon as possible.
“In the meantime, specialist cleaners are clearing up any mess that has been caused by the blockage today and the footpath affected, which passes the bandstand, remains closed. We’d ask visitors to respect the closure of the footpath and use a different route through the park.”
