In two career games against Pittsburgh, Zay Flowers has caught seven passes for 112 yards and one touchdown on 17 targets. The dynamic pass catcher has three drops in those games, and he’s been somewhat contained, averaging just 3.5 catches and 55 yards against a Steelers defense that works to take away an opponent’s best weapons.
Flowers is approaching his first 1,000-yard season and put his bravado on full display on Tuesday. He told the Baltimore Sun that Pittsburgh’s defense “doesn’t do anything to stress him” or make life difficult on the outside.
“Nothing,” the second-year receiver said bluntly Tuesday when asked what the Steelers do that makes the Ravens’ life so difficult against them. “They don’t really do nothing that really stresses me, if I’m being honest.
“I don’t think it’s trouble. I think we always have turnovers, missed kicks, stuff like that during the game, so if we just eliminate those – because we move the ball downfield — I know you see that. … We just have to take care of the ball, make kicks and try to put the ball in the end zone.”
The Steelers have won eight of their past nine against Baltimore, including an 18-16 victory earlier this season in Pittsburgh.
Still, Flowers chalked that up to the Ravens committing costly penalties and untimely turnovers.
Flowers leads Baltimore with 66 catches for 916 yards and four touchdowns but could be very confident after watching Philadelphia duo of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith both have 100 yards receiving and a touchdown in a 27-13 win over Pittsburgh.
