The Baltimore Ravens officially announced that they were placing the franchise tag on quarterback Lamar Jackson before the NFL’s franchise tag deadline on Tuesday, March 7th at 4pm EST. It was a move that was anticipated by many, although there was hope that a deal could be struck between the two sides before the buzzer sounded.
After the tag was announced, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed the type of tag that Jackson received. The signal caller reportedly will get the non-exclusive franchise tag, which will be a $32.4 million cap charge for Baltimore in 2023, assuming Jackson plays on it.
