Ravens QB Lamar Jackson won’t play in 2022 Week 3 preseason finale vs. Commanders

The Baltimore Ravens will play their final preseason game of 2022 against the Washington Commanders on Saturday night. The preseason is a time for young players to make an impact, and while starters could play, teams opt to rest them for a multitude of different reasons.

Following practice a few days before the game, head coach John Harbaugh spoke to the media. Harbaugh announced during the press conference that quarterback Lamar Jackson won’t play in the team’s final preseason game, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

“Yes, we’ve organized it. Lamar [Jackson] is not playing, and we’ll kind of work from there.”

Jackson’s absence from Saturday’s game means that the quarterback will not take a snap this preseason. The former league-MVP is coming off a bone bruise that ended his season last year, and the team has taken the cautious approach with many of their players this offseason. The former Louisville star gives Baltimore the best chance to win, and having him go down with an injury in the preseason would hurt the team in more ways than one.
