The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14 by the final score of 16-14, moving their record to 9-4 and 3-0 in their division. They got contributions from many different players, including quarterback Anthony Brown, who had to step in for the injured Tyler Huntley after he suffered a concussion.
Brown’s first play was from the team’s one-yard line, and Baltimore elected to throw the ball even in a hostile environment. Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman discussed what went into the decision to have Brown throw so deep into Ravens territory, mentioning that he had faith in the undrafted rookie.
“Isn’t that the obvious thing to do? They’d never expect it, right? _(laughter)I saw the terrible towels waving, it was pretty cranked up on defense, so I felt that was the best way to get us to the five-yard line and then go from there. What it really comes down to is I had faith in Anthony [Brown] in that situation. He really did a good job stepping in like that. [He] really hadn’t taken any real reps with the first team, so it’s a real credit to him. [It was] really exciting for him; we’re really proud of him.”
