Ravens star cornerback Marlon Humphrey is dealing with an unspecified foot injury and will have surgery Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The team is hopeful he’ll be back in a little over a month, so he will miss the start of the regular season.
It’s unclear how or when Humphrey suffered the injury. Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, he finished the team’s joint practice Tuesday but did not participate in practice on Wednesday.
Missing Humphrey for any time will be a significant loss for a Baltimore team looking to return to the playoffs in 2023. The 27-year-old is a three-time Pro Bowler who tallied 71 tackles and three interceptions last year. The Ravens made the wild-card round only to lose to the Bengals.
The Ravens start their season on Sept. 10 against the Texans and then will face the Bengals on Sept. 17 in Week 2. Baltimore would surely like to have Humphrey back by then to matchup against Ja’Marr Chase in Cincinnati, but only time will tell.
