The Baltimore Ravens parted ways with their now-former defensive coordinator in Don Martindale. It was a surprising move for many reasons, but the team clearly felt like they needed a change after the way that the 2021 season ended.
The team was looking through defensive coordinator options, but their search process came to an end on Thursdsay night after they announced that University of Michigan defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald will be the next coach to lead their defense and try to get the unit back on track.
We have hired Mike Macdonald as our defensive coordinator.

Macdonald was in the Baltimore organization before his move to Michigan, working in a multitude of roles including as the linebackers coach. He left for the college ranks to be with Jim Harbaugh, and led them to an appearance in the College Football Playoffs.
Macdonald returns to the organization after having plenty of success, and now has a chance to incorporate his ideas into the unit while also having experience with the players and scheme he worked in before.
