The Baltimore Ravens drafted linebacker Patrick Queen in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Just two years before Queen was drafted, the Chicago Bears drafted Roquan Smith in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Smith was then traded to the Ravens before the 2022 deadline, and has been a solid addition to the defense so far.
Even before Smith arrived, Queen had been turning a corner and playing great football. However, the arrival of Smith has been a great thing for both players, and when head coach John Harbaugh spoke about Smith and Queen after just two games together, he raved about the chemistry already forming between the two.
“I think they have a great chemistry already.”

“I think they have a great chemistry already. I don’t know … If you’re talking about working on chemistry, sometimes chemistry is like love at first sight. To me, it’s kind of that way with those two guys. They are working well together, and it’s only going to get better. I just love the way they’re playing.”
The more that Queen and Smith play together, the better they will be for each other. The defense also is benefitting from the addition of Smith and the exceptional play of Queen at inside linebacker. If they can continue their strong play and continue to grow together, the Baltimore defense has the potential to continue their special run.
