The Baltimore Ravens saw major contributions across their offensive line during the 2022 season, especially from one unsung hero. Guard Ben Powers wrestled the starting job away from his competition during training camp and the preseason, and far outperformed expectations in a contract year.
Powers was asked plenty of questions about his impending free agency during his end-of-season media availability. When pressed on how he’s going to approach his offseason decision, Powers talked about how he’s ready to take it day-by-day and see how things go, as it’s his first time hitting the open market.
“Just take it day by day and see how that goes. This is my first time being a free agent, so to be honest, I have no idea what to expect.”
He was also asked if he would like to return to Baltimore, but the guard was non-committal, saying that he’s had “nothing but great experiences” with the Ravens, but doesn’t know what his future holds.
“I’ve had nothing but great experiences in my last four years in Baltimore, but with that being said, I do not know what the future holds.”
It would be a major plus if Powers was able to return to Baltimore. However, with so many other questions to answer and a potential big (and well-earned) payday ahead for the former Oklahoma star, at the moment it appears iffy that he’ll be back in purple and black during 2023.
