Rating Nottingham Forest’s transfer window as Steve Cooper adds further depth on busy deadline day

Nottingham Forest’s January transfer window was not quite as frenetic as the summer. But then how could it have been?

There were no shortage of names linked with a move to the City Ground but in the end there were as many outgoings as incomings as Steve Cooper looked to get a handle on an overblown squad.

Goalkeeping cover and a new centre-back were the priorities going into deadline day following the arrivals of Danilo, Chris Wood and Gustavo Scarpa earlier in the window. To that end, Keylor Navas and Felipe arrived to complement the signing of Newcastle United playmaker Jonjo Shelvey.

With the club already at the limit of their 25-man Premier League squad, others had to make way. But despite several fringe players exiting, the breakdown of moves for the likes of Harry Toffolo and Lewis O'Brien meant Cooper ended the window with an unwieldy 32 players at his disposal.

So given Forest’s still perilous position in the table, have the decisions been the right ones?

We want to know your views on the window. Using our transfer slider, give us your assessment of Forest’s January’s transfer dealings.

Rubbish? Excellent? Or somewhere in between?

You can then compare your views with the rest of the Forest fanbase to see whether they are in agreement.

And we’ll do it all again in the summer, hopefully with another Premier League campaign to plan for and a few less reinforcements needed.
