Newcastle United were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon, in what was high quality Premier League affair.
Martin Odegaard's first half goal, as well as a Fabian Schar own goal, proved to be the difference, as Arsenal ensured United could no longer mathematically catch them in second place.
Eddie Howe's men had their moments, and saw a penalty decision overturned by VAR, as well as both Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak hitting the post.

Both Nick Pope in the Newcastle goal and Aaron Ramsdale in the Arsenal net made some world class saves but, ultimately, it was the Gunners' quality in the decisive moments that settled the game.
Thankfully, Manchester United failed to take advantage of Newcastle's slip up as they were beaten 1-0 by West Ham United at the London Stadium to remain two points behind the Magpies in fourth place.
Fifth placed Liverpool are now just three points behind Newcastle, and just one point behind Manchester United, in the race to qualify for next season's Champions League but, crucially, both clubs have a game in hand over Jurgen Klopp's side.
