Liverpool made a dreadful start to their Champions League campaign as last season's beaten finalists were embarrassed 4-1 by Napoli in Italy.
The Serie A side ran the Reds ragged in the first half and their three-goal lead going into the break did not flatter them. They duly added a fourth moments after the restart before Luis Diaz - one of the few Liverpool players to do themselves justice - scored what proved to be a consolation.
The heavy defeat came on the back of Saturday's 0-0 draw at Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby with Everton. That result left Jurgen Klopp's side, who finished second last season behind Manchester City, six points adrift of leaders Arsenal after six games.
