Frank Lampard's Everton kicked off their Premier League season with a 1-0 loss against his former side Chelsea.
Chelsea scored the only goal of the game thanks to a penalty awarded minutes before the end of additional time in the first half. Jorginho sent Pickford the wrong way giving Chelsea the lead going into half-time.
Everton were searching for an opening goal just over half an hour into the first half as Demarai Gray sent a cross to Anthony Gordon who couldn't quite get on the end of it. Chances also came from new signing James Tarkowski who sent Mendy flying to save his header.
Ben Godfrey was replaced early in the first half follow his collision with Pickford, the defender was seen holding his ankle whilst receiving oxygen. Before Mina also went off injured in the second half. Another injury blow for Frank Lampard.
