Rashmika Mandanna thanks celebrity friends for their support in condemning DeepFake video; says 'hope we as a community bring change'

In a courageous stand against the use of deepfake technology, actress Rashmika Mandanna took to social media to address the distressing issue of a video created by using her image. Lending their support to the actress was a host of celebrities who shared the viral clip and expressed their shock and horror about the use of the tech in deceiving the public.

After Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan offered the actress his support and called for legal action against the makers of the clip, a host of other stars also tweeted their support for Mandanna. Actor Naga Chaitanya took to his handle to say, "It’s truly disheartening to see how technology is being misused and the thought of what this can progress to in the future is even scarier. Action has to be taken and some kind of law has to be enforced to protect people who have and will be a victim to this. Strength to you."

Singer Chinmayi Sripaada also took to her handle to say, "Now a DeepFake Rashmika video surfaces and I just saw her Instagram story where she genuinely looks disturbed - In a country where women’s bodies are exploited everyday, Deep Fake is going to be the next weapon they use to target and harass and blackmail girls to extort, blackmail and rape; Their clueless families in one small village or town is not going to understand when the so called maanam / or honour is at stake."
