Rare music, famous dogs and naughty feral chickens – take the Thursday quiz

A big chicken – but where have 100 of them gone feral?

This week the Thursday quiz is steadfastly ignoring the general election in the UK, though not ignoring elections elsewhere. You face 15 questions on topical news, general knowledge, and some other stuff that caught the eye this week. There are no prizes, but you can let us know how you got on in the comments, where you can pick up bonus points for being funny, but lose points for tediously quibbling with the questions like that one boring bloke does at your local pub quiz every week. Enjoy!

Solutions

1:B - The count published by the electoral commission showed that Nausėda won 74.6% of votes with 90% of ballots counted after polls closed on Sunday in the second-round vote, beating opponent prime minister Ingrida Šimonytė, 2:A - Once Upon a Time in Shaolin exists in a single physical copy, and the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart, Tasmania, has acquired the album on loan, 3:B - The 38-year-old, who describes himself as “armed and gay”, saw off bids by Donald Trump and Robert F Kennedy Jr to gain the party's endorsement at its convention in Washington DC at the weekend, 4:B - Acutis was a computer prodigy who helped to spread Roman Catholic teaching online before his death in 2006. Pope Francis has decreed that a second posthumous miracle has been attributed to Acutis, qualifying the teenager for canonisation, 5:C - The US rapper was detained for hours at Schiphol airport on suspicion of “possessing soft drugs” before being fined by Dutch police and allowed to continue her journey. The gig was abandoned at 9.30pm with 20,000 people inside the venue, which seems more cursed than Leeds United attempting to get promoted via the play-offs, 6:D - Named after Leo I of Galicia, the city is very close to Ukraine's border with Poland, and indeed at times, including between the first and second world wars, the city has been part of Poland, 7:B - In simplistic terms, shareholders probably don't want to fork out the extra dosh, and workers would probably quite like it. Well done if you picked this option – you've got one point towards your fictitious business GCSE, 8:A - That photo is actually a mural of the two figures painted on the side of a barn in Iowa , 9:B - Dogecoin was started as a joke by two software engineers to capitalise on memes featuring the image of Kabuso, and it is now one of the most valuable cryptocurrencies on the planet. Much noble, so respect, 10:B - Ben King, 48, who lives on the lane where the feral monsters nest, said he had to wear earplugs to sleep at night because of their constant crowing, a bit like living near to a Southampton fan this week, 11:D - The band were formed in 1988 and their second single, The Only One I Know was a massive hit in 1990, and provides a chance for plenty of quiz-score related hilarity in the comments, 12:C - They were basically totally done with Richard II, his officials and his taxes and then were all murdered by the government of the day, 13:C - Imagine how much more random the Thursday quiz would be if they were actually serving the quizmaster full pints while he was writing it in the pub in a total panic on a Wednesday evening, 14:A - Pogačar held the pink jersey after every stage except the opening one, and adds victory in the Giro to his two previous Tour de France victories, 15:C - The episode was called 73 Yards because - SPOILERS – the mysterious woman never approached any closer than 73 Yards while doing her spooky supernatural witchy stuff
