A luxury breed of cat worth £1000 fell from a tower block in Aberdeen - after three other cats plunged from the same flats. The SSPCA has expressed extreme concern for the animals residing in the tower block on Regent Court.
Some of the cats died due to the impact and others were severely injured after horror falls. The latest incident was reported to the SSPCA on Friday, October 28, when a member of the public spotted a Scottish Fold cat lying immobile and vomiting outside.
An animal rescue officer attended the scene to find the two-year-old feline curled up in a pile of leaves outside. The moggy was unresponsive and had to have his front leg amputated due to horrific injuries.
Enquiries have now revealed that three other cats have met similar fates in the same flat block recently. People are being urged to contact the SSPCA if they have a cat and live in Regent Court.
Scottish SPCA animal rescue officer, Aimee Findlay, said, “I arrived to find the male cat curled up in a pile of leaves. He is two years old, grey and a Scottish fold. He was unresponsive when I approached and I was surprised to find him lying there exposed to the strong winds.
“I took him to the vets where they found his front leg to be completely broken and twisted. Unfortunately, the leg had to be amputated due to the extent of the injuries he had sustained.
“We have sadly heard that several other cats have recently been killed or injured after falling from the same block of flats. We are extremely concerned for the welfare of other animals in the area if this turns out to be the case.
“We urge anybody who recognises this lovely boy, or who lives in Regent Court and owns a cat, to please get in touch by calling our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
