Rare 50p coin sold for £1,500 'in Scotland' with thousands more in circulation

A rare 50p coin that features the marmalade sandwich loving Paddington Bear has recently fetched £1,500. The 2019 coin was reportedly listed by a Scottish seller and is part of a popular collection.

The coin sold appears to show Paddington at the Tower of London. As reported by Glasgow Live it was auctioned on eBay from a Glasgow-based seller on Monday, February 13, with the 50p fetching £1,500.

This coin, while valuable, has a mintage of 9,001,000 meaning that there could be more in circulation. It was part of the 2019 series which also shows Paddington standing outside other famous locations.
