American rapper Offset has said he is focused on his recovery and is “good” but “planning to be better” in his first statement since being shot.

The 34-year-old musician was admitted to hospital after he sustained injuries during a shooting outside a casino in Florida earlier this week, AP reported.

In a post on Instagram on Friday, the rapper, real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus, assured his almost 24 million followers that he is on the mend.

He wrote: “Thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me and showed me love.

“I’m good… but I’m planning to be better! I’m focused on my family, my recovery, and getting back to the music…realising that life is made up of quiet wins and loud losses….

“Life’s a gamble and I’m still playing to win.”

The post received thousands of comments from friends and fans, sending best wishes to the rapper.

Offset is known for being one third of the hip-hop group Migos, along with rappers Quavo and Takeoff, who died in 2022.

The group rose to fame with the 2013 hit Versace before reaching greater heights in popularity through a Drake remix, and were also known for the track Bad And Boujee, for which they were nominated for a Grammy.

Offset married US singer and rapper Cardi B in 2017 and the couple have three children.

They later separated and filed for divorce in 2024.
