A federal judge in Utah has sentenced rap artist NBA Youngboy to just under two years in prison for gun-related charges. The rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, admitted to possessing weapons despite being a convicted felon. Gaulden, 25, reached an agreement that resolved Utah state charges against him and settled two sets of federal charges. One set carries a 23-month sentence, while the other includes five years of probation and a $200,000 fine.

According to court documents, Gaulden acknowledged possessing firearms during the filming of a rap video in Baton Rouge and at his home in Huntsville, Utah. He agreed to surrender the guns as part of the plea deal. Gaulden had a prior conviction in Louisiana for aggravated assault with a firearm.

Utah agents raided Gaulden's home in April following a complaint that he had impersonated a doctor to obtain prescription painkillers. Under the federal plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to 10 state charges and was sentenced to time served plus a $25,000 fine.

During the sentencing, Gaulden apologized to the court and his family, taking full responsibility for his actions. Federal Judge Howard Nielson emphasized the importance of Gaulden making decisions free from substances and ordered him to undergo court-ordered substance abuse treatment and mental health evaluations.

Gaulden's defense team expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating that they are looking forward to his future successes. The case involved extensive litigation and negotiation, culminating in the sentencing of the rapper.
