Rapper Lil Durk released from hospital after weeklong stay for ‘severe dehydration and exhaustion’

Rapper Lil Durk spent the past week in a hospital, where he was treated for severe dehydration and exhaustion, according to TMZ.

The outlet said the Chicago-born rapper was hospitalized after becoming ill in Ohio on July 6. The setback caused the 30-year-old performer to miss several show dates in Europe, as well as Wednesday’s ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.

Lil Durk, aka Durk Derrick Banks, was reportedly released Wednesday, but has yet to be cleared by doctors to return to performing. He told TMZ, “Once I get my full energy back, it’s back to business which I’m looking forward to.”

Lil Durk’s new album, a deluxe edition of his “Almost Healed” recording, is expected to be released soon.

He was previously sidelined by health issues in July 2022 after a pyrotechnic hit him in his face while he was performing at Lollapalooza in his hometown. Lil Durk managed to finish that show before taking a break to get back up to speed.

“Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break and focus on my health,” he wrote on Instagram after that incident.

Chicago is also where Lil Durk’s brother, OTF DThang, aka Dontay Banks Jr., was shot dead in June 2021. He was 32.
