Popular rap artist GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Woods, has recently been charged with first-offense driving under the influence of alcohol in Georgia. The incident also involved charges of having an open container of alcohol and failing to obey a traffic control device, as per Gwinnett County Jail booking records.
The 24-year-old artist, originally from Memphis, Tennessee, was apprehended by police in Suwanee, located approximately 30 miles northeast of Atlanta. The arrest took place after officers observed a black Mercedes-Benz making a U-turn at a red light, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
According to the police report, when questioned about her alcohol consumption, Woods insisted that it did not matter and that she was capable of driving. The officer noted that Woods exhibited bloodshot eyes, had difficulty completing her sentences, and declined to undergo a breathalyzer test.
Following her arrest, Woods was processed at the jail at 6:12 a.m. on Tuesday and was subsequently released at 9:41 a.m. on the same day. The jail records do not specify whether Woods has legal representation to advocate on her behalf.
