Ranvir Singh quits Good Morning Britain role as bosses fight to keep her

Ranvir Singh has reportedly stepped down from her role as the Good Morning Britain Political Editor.

An insider has shared that the TV star, 44, decided to wave goodbye to the job after growing fed up with early starts and standing outside No 10 - but would be happy with a "more substantial" role in the main studio.

"Ranvir is ready for a new challenge at Good Morning Britain and she wants a bigger role within the team," the source told The Sun.

"She quietly stepped down as the political editor of the show in anticipation of having a more substantial part to play."

Revealing that ITV bosses are keen to keep her on board, the insider added: "Ranvir covers for Susanna Reid when she is away and this week has stepped into her shoes during half term. But she wants more and the bosses at GMB are clamouring to give it to her.

"She is a hugely popular member of GMB and keeping Ranvir on board is something everyone wants."

Journalist Ranvir has become a fan favourite ever since competed on the BBC dancing show Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional Giovanni Pernice in 2020.

Following her time on the popular series she has been given opportunities to front more ITV shows - including standing in for Lorraine Kelly on Lorriane and appearing on Loose Women.

Not only did Ranvir's career benefit from her appearing on Strictly but it also led to her meeting her new lover.

In December, she went public with beau Louis Church, 26, when they attended Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball at the 02 Arena, after reportedly meeting backstage during her Strictly Come Dancing stint.

It is understood that the pair's paths crossed as Louis was a production secretary on the series Ranvir took part in.

Ranvir's new romance follows on from her divorce from ex-husband Ranjeet Singh Dehal - who is the father of her son Tushaan.

Ranvir tied the knot with Ranjeet in 2012 and in 2019 left fans surprised when she casually dropped live on GMB that she was single.

Nonchalantly revealing the heartbreaking details on the reason for the breakdown of her marriage, told co-host Ben Shephard: "Well, I’m single," Ranvir confirmed she was no longer with her Ranjeet.

She went on to suggest that she had found something incriminating on her husband’s phone when discussing a GMB segment about whether you should ever check your partner’s device.

Asked if she had ever done it, Ranvir said: “I have looked at it once.”

“Is that why you’re no longer together?” Ben replied.

Keeping quiet on the full details, Ranvir responded: “I can’t answer that question.

“But I have always thought that if you ever felt you need to do that then the relationship is over, because you obviously don’t trust that person.”

She continued: “I found something that needed addressing. So I would say you think you don’t need to do it, until you do.”
