Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth have opened the doors to their first home together, a sprawling 4,000-square-foot apartment perched on the 18th floor of a Chennai building. As reported by The Times of India, the couple built the space around what they love. curated art, vintage furniture, vibrant textiles and personal keepsakes gathered over the years, rather than following a single design trend.
Architectural Digest India offered fans a look inside the home, revealing a layout where rooms flow naturally into each other, framed by wide windows and balconies that keep the Chennai skyline in constant view.
A living room built on layers, not minimalism
The living room sets the tone for the rest of the apartment. Tall French windows dressed in sheer linen curtains let in soft natural light, while a glass chandelier anchors the room from above. A custom glass coffee table, a wicker hand chair and a mouth-blown pink glass sculpture add sculptural touches, while silk jamdani cushions and a hand-knotted carpet bring in colour and warmth. According to Architectural Digest India, it's a maximalist approach designed to feel rich rather than cluttered.
Hallways with their own character
Even the passageways carry personality. A vintage Turkish runner stretches across the hallway, alongside a study desk, a cast-brass butter lamp and vintage Japanese woodblock prints, all chosen with the same eye for detail as the main rooms.
A cosier, floral-themed bedroom
The bedroom shifts gears from the rest of the home, going for warmth over drama. A custom four-poster bed takes centre stage, set against floral wallpaper, an ivory carpet and dark teakwood side tables. The mix of contemporary furniture with traditional materials gives the room a timeless, lived-in charm.
A bold yellow TV room
The TV room pushes the apartment's maximalist streak the furthest. A custom yellow wallpaper covers the walls, paired with rich velvet upholstery, a vintage hand-knotted carpet, a cast-brass cocktail table and a brass-and-glass floor lamp, together making it one of the most striking spaces in the home, per Architectural Digest India's tour of the apartment.
A home built on personal history
As per The Times of India, Aditi has said "beautiful things are not meant to be kept in cupboards, they should be used," a philosophy that runs through the entire apartment. Siddharth, for his part, points to the sense of uninterrupted flow between rooms as his favourite part of the house. Together, the couple leaned on a handful of design labels, including Atelier Ashiesh Shah, Ravi Vazirani, Jaipur Rugs, Pottery Barn and Péro Home, to shape individual pieces across the foyer, bedrooms and living areas, Architectural Digest India reported.
