We’re just days away from the 2023 NFL draft, where the Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up to welcome a new crop of players to the roster.
After quietly retooling the roster during the first wave of free agency, Howie Roseman has the Birds in a prime spot at tenth overall.
Philadelphia could look to trade back for an All-American running back or stand pat and draft the best available offensive tackle on the board.
For the sake of this article, we assume that the Eagles stay put at No. 10 overall and make a selection.
With that in mind, here are the positions most likely to be the pick with the 10th selection.
1
Offensive Tackle
Philadelphia builds from the inside out. If Bijan Robinson or Jalen Carter can’t be the pick, then Paris Johnson or Peter Skoronski gives the franchise a player of value at pick No. 10 overall.
It also keeps the NFL’s top unit on the ascension.
2
Edge Rusher
Several edge rusher prospects have been mentioned as potential candidates at No. 10 overall. However, only Tyree Wilson and or Will Anderson warrant Howie Roseman holding onto the pick and not trading back or selecting an offensive tackle.
3
Defensive Tackle
This position would be higher on the list, but several teams covet Jalen Carter, and he’s the only defensive tackle worthy of a top-10 pick.
4
Cornerback
The Eagles re-signed Darius Slay and James Bradberry while also adding Greedy Williams to the roster, but Howie Roseman could still look to add a player at the position.
Christian Gonzalez and Devon Witherspoon are both worthy of the No. 10 overall pick, but not over Paris Johnson, Peter Skoronski, Jalen Carter, or Will Anderson.
5
Running Back
Some pundits think it’s Bijan or bust for Philadelphia, but the franchise will add another running back to the roster at some point.
Will Howie Roseman trade back and buy himself three or four slots to land Bijan Robinson as a game-changer for the Eagles juggernaut?
Philadelphia could have eyes for Jahmyr Gibbs, but it won’t be at No. 10.
6
Wide Receiver
The Eagles added Olamide Zaccheaus to the wide receiver room, likely eliminating another top pick at the position after drafting DeVonta Smith in 2021 and trading for A.J. Brown last spring.
Philadelphia could still look to add a player at the position, and even Jaxon Smith-Njigba will have to wait for a trade back or weird circumstances.
7
Safety
Brian Branch is a game-changing defensive back, but he’s not a player that Howie Roseman is drafting at No. 10 overall.
Even after signing Terrell Edmunds and Justin Evans, Philadelphia could still draft a safety, just not that early.
