MUMBAI: Having taken pole position in Elite Group B by crushing both the southern teams Andhra and then Hyderabad, a buoyant Mumbai will look to record a hat-trick of outright wins when they face old foes Saurashtra in their next Ranji Trophy match, at the MCA’s Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in BKC from Tuesday.
Almost 10 months ago, when both the teams met at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in the Ranji opener, Saurashtra pulled off an incredible draw, with just one wicket remaining, as their last pair of skipper Jaydev Unadkat (32 not out) and Chetan Sakaria (10 not out) kept the Mumbai bowlers at bay for 104 balls in the final session of the match. A big reason why Saurashtra salvaged that game on the last day was Cheteshwar Pujara, who cracked an uncharacteristic 83-ball 91.
