MUMBAI: It's difficult to believe that Harsh Dubey is just 21-year and eight-Ranji-matches old. The left-arm spinner has left a big mark on Vidarbha's dominant run this season. A week back, in Vidarbha's quarterfinal triumph over Karnataka, he scalped four in the last innings. On Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium, he snapped up big fish Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw and man in-form Musheer Khan. The three-wicket burst triggered a Mumbai collapse as the hosts were bundled out for just 224.
Dubey made everyone take note of his abilities by making the ball turn and bounce on just a-session-old Day 1 pitch. To top it all, he plotted the Rahane dismissal to perfection. "Going into a match, I always mark a batsman whom I want to dismiss. It's my ritual every match. For this match it was Rahane. From the end which I was bowling, the ball was getting stuck on the pitch a bit. I thought that there was a chance of the ball going in the air if Rahane drives it from that area. So, in between bowling the stump line, I was giving him balls to drive. In the end the plan succeeded," Dubey said.
