KOLKATA: If Bengal wanted to tick all the boxes in the Elite Group ‘A’ Ranji Trophy match against Odisha before the knockouts, then they will have plenty to ponder on. Already assured of a quarterfinal berth, Bengal failed to dominate their rivals and at 39 for two, they were still 226 runs behind Odisha’s first innings score of 265 at stumps on Day 2 at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
The visitors batted two sessions before being bowled out just after the tea break, but Bengal bowlers failed miserably to wrap things up earlier as the last-wicket pair of Sunil Roul and Basant Mohanty frustrated them playing out an 81-ball partnership adding 38 runs. Even most of the Odisha batters perished for their own follies rather than the Bengal bowlers getting them dismissed.
