Rangers XI v Celtic confirmed as Morelos decision made with Steven Davis given major task

Rangers have announced their side to face Celtic in today's huge Old Firm Premiership clash - with Alfredo Morelos on the bench.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will lead his team out at Celtic Park - as they bid to overtake the Champions who sit at the top of the league by two points. Banished striker Alfredo Morelos could make his return Celtic Park for the first time since March 2021 where he netted his first goal against the Hoops. The Columbian striker missed both clashes at Celtic Park last season due to injury.

In-form striker Antonio Colak returns to the starting line up for his Old Firm debut, after being rested for the Premier Sports Cup clash against Queen of the South. The Croatian frontman will hope to repeat to Champions League heroics against PSV by netting against his Glasgow rivals.

Malik Tillman will also make his derby bow in midfield. The Bayern Munich loanee will get his first taste of the Old Firm. The inform midfielder has played a key role in Gers early season Euro heroics and will feature alongside Ryan Kent, behind Colak.

John McLaughlin will feature between the sticks with a back four of Connor Goldson, James Sands, Borna Barisic and skipper James Tavernier. Veteran midfielder Steven Davis is thrown in with the task of composing the play against the likes of Callum McGregor.

Van Bronckhorst believes his side his side have to show everything to bring three points back to Ibrox. Ahead of the game the Rangers boss said: “You should go there with the desire and belief that you can get something out of the game, that’s always important when you go into big games.

Rangers starting XI: McLaughlin, Tavernier, Sands, Goldson, Barisic, Davis, Kamara, Lundstram, Kent, Colak, Tillman.

Subs: McGregor, Ridvan, King, Devine, Jack, Arfield, Wright, Sakala, Morelos.
