Rangers women's coach insists no discipline problems ahead of Celtic showdown

Rangers women's boss Malky Thomson insists there are no problems with discipline within his squad as they prepare to take on Celtic on Thursday.

The last time the pair met was surrounded by controversy as Gers coach Craig McPherson appeared to aim a headbutt at Hoops boss Fran Alonso.

He was subsequently handed a lengthy SFA ban, but ahead of the next league game between the sides, Thomson insists discipline will not be an issue with his side.

He told Sky Sports: "I think given the way we have conducted ourselves over the full season, and the girls are well disciplined, they know to respect the club and our opponents. There is no issues in that regard."

On the game itself, Thomson continued: “Off the back of the result there that we got against Hearts, you know, it's changed the dynamic of it. The draw against Hearts has obviously put it not in control as it would have been. So yeah, it's a massive, massive game for us.

“There's got to be full concentration on the game we keep talking about the game being played all 90 minutes, but as you know, injury time, extra time, moments that happen in the game can add time on.

“We've got to play to the minute the whistle blows, we've got to be fully, fully concentrated."

On the title race, he added: “Well, I think there will still be twists. You know, I think they'll be twists and turns. You know there's a few points still to play for, there are four or five games left in our season.

“So there's a lot to play for and a lot, a lot that will happen. I think every team will be feeling every bit of pressure going into the last wee bit, but it's great for the fans and great for everybody watching now.

“There's a bit of drama, there's a bit of spice at the end of it. So yeah, we we definitely need, we definitely. We need these three points.”
