Rangers winger Scott Wright 'transfer target' for Sheffield Wednesday

Scott Wright is reportedly a transfer target for Sheffield Wednesday.

The Rangers winger, 26, is thought to be wanted by the English Championship side this summer.

According to the Daily Record, Sheffield Wednesday have 'registered their interest' in Wright ahead of a possible Ibrox exit.

Wright still has one year left on his current Rangers contract but it's thought club chiefs would be willing to field offers for the forward player.

Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is said to be an admirer of the player and interested in adding him to his squad ahead of the new English Championship season.

Wright made 33 appearances for Rangers last season with the majority coming off the bench.

The winger almost left Rangers last summer to head to Turkish side Pendikspor before the deal collapsed over costs.

Rangers had sanctioned a move with a fee agreed as Wright targeted more regular first-team football and admitted it was time to "move on" from Ibrox.

At the time, he said: "It gives me a chance to go and play regular football. I had some conversations with Michael Beale just to try and play a wee bit more and we came to the conclusion that it's maybe best for me to move on. The club has obviously agreed a fee and I'll go out and have a look and see what I think.

"Is it a step into the unknown? Yeah definitely. You've always got to test yourself. It's an opportunity that excites me and one I'm looking forward to looking into. There are plenty of options that I need to way up and it's a decision that I'm going to have to make with my family and my wife, but one I'm looking forward to and see what's out there for me and make that decision."
