Rangers WhatsApp rumours scotched as Philippe Clement remains as Ibrox boss

Philippe Clement has not left Rangers despite rumours spreading to the contrary.

WhatsApp messages suggesting the Belgian has left his role have been spreading like wildfire but it's understood there is no change to his current position at the club.

Rangers are now eleven points adrift of bitter rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table after a 1-1 draw with Dundee United at Ibrox.

They also remain eight points behind Jimmy Thelin's rejuvenated Aberdeen.

While the club is making strides behind the scenes with the impending appointment of Patrick Stewart as CEO and Malcolm Offord as chairman, there is no suggestion a change of manager is imminent today.

It's understood that current interim chairman John Gilligan is currently out of the country on a trip arranged prior to taking his current role.

Speaking after the disappointing Ibrox draw, Clement was adamant nobody in his dressing room would be giving up on the race for the championship.

He said: "Fans can think what they want and that's their right also. I never give up if something is possible. And I see also what I see in the second half. Everybody sees also what they see in the second half. We need to have that level much more in the next couple of months and take much more points.

"Of course, it's a big gap. And you don't know what other teams, how many points they lose along the way. But we need to get more points. And you see also if you play like you played in the second half, you will get more points. But we need to put that as a standard for the team, for everybody. That's what I said in the dressing room also."
