Rangers vs Celtic Connor Goldson penalty shout gets 'got away with one' response from Barry Ferguson

Barry Ferguson reckons Connor Goldson should have been penalised for handball and Rangers 'got away with one' against Celtic.

The second Old Firm derby of the season proved to the the blockbuster everyone was expecting as the sides shared four goals in a 2-2 thriller. Daizen Maeda pounced on sloppy play from the hosts to give his side the advantage inside five minutes before the Light Blues hit twice early in the second period to turn the game on its head through Ryan Kent and a James Tavernier penalty.

Kyogo Furuhashi smashed home a late leveller for Ange Postecoglou's men as the gap between the two at the top remained at nine points with both remaining unbeaten since the World Cup shutdown return - but there was a moment in the second period that a shot from Carl Starfelt struck the hand of Rangers defender Goldson. However, John Beaton didn't award a spot-kick and VAR didn't intervene to instruct the whistler to take a second look as play continued.

Ibrox hero Ferguson was honest in his assessment of the decision believing the match day officials got it WRONG as he admitted "I thought straight away it was a penalty."

He told Go Radio : "I watched it a couple of times and, for me, Connor Goldson's arms and hands are in an unnatural position and I thought it was a penalty.

"I think Rangers have got away with one there.

"If you're asking for my honest opinion, it strikers Goldson's hand and I thought straight away it was a penalty."
