It's decision time for Michael Beale and Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson as he looks to get the last minute deals over the line.
Deadline day is imminent and with Todd Cantwell the only Ibrox arrival so far this month, fans are keen to see some more movement before the end of the month. Nicolas Raskin looks set to be the next name on the agenda with the Standard Liege jetting in to iron out the final details of his contract, while Beale could look for another winger with Morgan Whittaker set to remain at Swansea City amid the Championship side's hardline stance.
There could also be outgoings with the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos approaching the end of their deals, which could see clubs looks to snap up a late bargain before February 1. Beale has also opened up on the prospect of players leaving on loan, or unfancied loanees returning to their parent clubs this month.
But who could be coming in and who could be going out? Record Sport takes a look.
James Sands
Ahead of facing off with Hearts, Beale was put on the spot about any outgoings, and opened the door for some of the player on loan to exit Ibrox. James Sands reportedly has an £4.7m option to buy in loan his contract from New York City but has been used sparingly since Beale stepped into the hot seat - having failed to start a game since December 20.
Beale appeared to open the door for Sands to leave, stating: "We have a couple of loan players in and have to decide whether we want to retain them long term. If we didn’t, maybe there will be an opportunity for them to go back as well. I want players who are going to be here for the long term who can compete right now to make us stronger but also in the long term."
Pressed on if Sands had a role to play at the club before the end of the campaign, he went on: "All the players are going to have a part to play. If one or two things happen in the next 24 hours it moves the goalposts for everyone. My office is like a doctor's office this morning. There were one or two waiting that wanted to have a conversation. All positive but obviously when new players come in it does move the goalposts and it gets competitive."
Alex Lowry
Beale has admitted Alex Lowry could leave Ibrox this month in search of regular game time. After an injury-hampered campaign, the 19-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first-team under Beale. He has made just two appearances since his arrival from QPR and has mainly featured for the B team in the Lowland League. The boss stated: "In the short-term he either has to fight to play or go and play somewhere else, but he’s got to fight to show that he is worthy of playing here at Rangers.
“I like when a young player has interest around them as long as it’s valid. Alex has some parts of his game that are excellent and other parts that a 19-year-old has to work on. I don’t think the Lowland League prepares players to play for Rangers at the top of the Premiership, competing for cups and in Europe. He’s transitioning into the first team every day but if he can’t get on the pitch then he needs to go and play at a good level somewhere else in this next period to prove he can play for Rangers.”
Josh Onomah
Former Tottenham man was on Beale’s radar when the Rangers boss was in charge of QPR at the start of the season, and the Londoner wanted to take him on loan to Loftus Road from rivals Fulham but he remained at Craven Cottage. However, he has barely featured for the Premier League side this term and reports suggested Beale could have retained an interest in Onomah.
West London Sport now report he could leave Fulham as a free agent before the end of the window. The 25-year-old is in the final six months of his contract and could see his deal terminated to facilitate a move.
Nicolas Raskin
With Raskin now arriving in Scotland to complete his move to Rangers, attention now turns to when he will officially be unveiled at Ibrox. The 21-year-old is set to end his time at Standard Liege and become Beale's second signing of the window.
Belgian transfer guru Sacha Tavolieri expects the deal to be rubber stamped before tomorrow morning. He notes that there was late interest in the Belgian U21 cap from the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg and Stuttgart making a move, but Raskin is keen on the Scottish Premiership switch.
Morgan Whittaker
Rangers pursuit of Morgan Whittaker appears to be at and end. After submitting several bids for the 22-year-old, who was keen on the switch to Ibrox, Beale admits there has been little movement from the English Championship side. He said: "He will be staying at Swansea - I believe."
