Rangers transfer bulletin as Ianis Hagi 'wanted' by old pal amid madcap Aberdeen link and Traore decision looms

Italian side Lecce want to sign Ianis Hagi from Rangers according to a report that states four clubs are chasing the Romanian - including a madcap link with Aberdeen.

The 24-year-old’s future at Ibrox has been the source of some speculation despite signing a contract shortly after Michael Beale arrived late last year to keep him at the club until 2026. Hagi had more than a year out with a knee injury and has been slowly working his way back up to full fitness.

But it has been claimed Rangers would be willing to listen to offers for Hagi, signed from Belgian side Genk under Steven Gerrard, and now reports in Italy say Lecce are keen on the player. The Serie A side’s technical director Pantaleo Corvino was general manager at Fiorentina when Hagi had two years there. And he is keen to be reunited with the son of Romanian legend Gheorghe. There are similar reports in Romania who also name Lecce as one of the clubs who want him but also had Espanyol and Galatasaray - both previously linked - as well as the Dons as shock suitors.

Hagi addressed speculation surrounding his future towards the end of last season, saying: “I can’t control the noise outside. I’ve signed for Rangers and committed my future to the club in December by signing a contract extension. What else can I say? It’s just noise that I can’t control. What I can say to the fans is that I’m committed to getting back to full fitness as soon as possible so I can play for this club as much as possible. Pulling that shirt on and playing minutes for Rangers. That’s what makes me happy.”

Beale has admitted that some players will be heading for the Ibrox exit as part of his rebuild but wants up to three more transfers to go with the five he has signed this summer. The Light Blues are closing in on striker Cyriel Dessers while Feyenoord man Danilo remains a live target. Hacken hitman Benie Traore is reportedly on a list of targets as well but Sheffield United are reportedly hopeful of agreeing a £5 million move for the Ivorian.

Ecuadorian midfielder Jose Cifuentes is another likely to move to Govan this summer and he was left out of LAFC’s squad for their defeat to FC Dallas at the weekend, fuelling speculation that a move across the Atlantic could be imminent.
