John Souttar is set to leave Rangers this summer.

He was left out of the squad that travelled to Spain for pre-season training amid interest from English clubs.

Per the Rangers Review, Swansea and Leicester are currently leading the race to sign him. It is understood that former Light Blues boss Russell Martin is competing with Swansea to land Souttar ahead of the new campaign, and it is thought to be a straight fight between the clubs at this stage as negotiations continue with Rangers.

Souttar's departure comes as he enters the final year of his contract at Ibrox. His place in the squad is set to be taken by South African international Olwethu Makhanya, who is poised to complete a £3 million move from Philadelphia Union.

The defender will become the second centre-back to join McInnes' squad this summer, following Ben Godfrey's loan move from Atalanta. Makhanya, who was part of South Africa's World Cup squad, will sign a four-year contract with Rangers.

He began his career with Stellenbosch in his homeland before moving to the United States, where he has spent the last three years with the Union. Rangers were also linked with a move for Sankhoun Diawara from Troyes, but that deal failed to materialise.
