The Premiership title is a tough ask but there's plenty of hope and optimism for Michael Beale when it comes to Rangers and the domestic cups.
The Light Blues side won this competition last season under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and are into the final of this month's Viaplay Cup final with holders Celtic. Now there is a chance to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition in which they reign as kings when they welcome Ian McCall's Partick Thistle to Ibrox.
There's been plenty of time to prepare for this clash opposed to some of the midweek fixtures Beale has had to get ready for during his time in charge, having eight days to think about this one after beating Ross County 2-1 last Saturday. They will be without John Lundstram after an ankle injury sustained in the Staggies win but he will be fit for their confirmed showpiece match later this month, which could open up a chance for someone like new Belgian midfielder Nicolas Raskin.
Kemar Roofe has been back in training while Ianis Hagi has also continued to make strides towards a full recovery and fellow striker Antonio Colak will get a chance in attack. John Souttar and Tom Lawrence are doing individual work, while left-back Ridvan Yilmaz is around three weeks away from returning to the Light Blues fold. Still, there's plenty of options at Beale's disposal.
