Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst has some major calls to make in the Champions League group stage opener with Ajax as fans demand a reaction to the hammering at the hands of Celtic.
The derby demolition threw a number of key areas into the spotlight ahead of the blockbuster night of European action at the Johan Cruyff Arena, with the finger of blame pointed at goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin. Veteran Allan McGregor has been warming the bench so far this term, but after McLaughlin's howler at Celtic Park the Ibrox boss could decide his patience has run out with the current number one.
James Sands has been filling in at centre-back, but Ben Davies could make his long-awaited return to partner Connor Goldson. The Ibrox side have struggled to find consistency in defence so far this season, but the summer recruit from Liverpool could make only his second start for the club as he returns from injury just in time for the Champions League showdown.
Alfredo Morelos will also be hoping for his chance from the start. Antonio Colak has been in red hot form, but Rangers ' record European goalscorer will hope for a second chance under van Bronckhorst at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Long term absentees Filip Helander, Ianis Hagi and Kemar Roofe are all all still recovering from injuries and have been left out of the European squad. John Souttar is included in the long-list but did not make the trip to the Netherlands.
Tom Lawrence also made the cut but has not returned to training. The midfielder has been missing since the win over Ross County, being a notable absentee for the derby day clash on Saturday.
