Rangers slapped with UEFA fine over fans 'acts of damage' during Red Star Belgrade clash

Rangers have copped a £30,000 fine from UEFA over the conduct of their fans during last month’s Europa League tie against Red Star Belgrade.

The Serbians accused the visiting support of causing up to £10,000 worth of damage at the Marakana Stadium with claims they destroyed over 500 seats.

And now the Ibrox club have been hit with two separate charges from the last-16 tie on March 17.

The first, for €30,000, relates to supporters throwing objects with the second for €5000 for acts of damage.

European football’s governing body have told Rangers to contact Red Star Belgrade within 30 days to settle the damages.

Rangers fans took to social media ahead of the game to complain about the state of the away end.

And videos also emerged after the game of rivals supporters throwing objects at each other in the stadium.

However, the home side escaped without punishment as Rangers are forced to write their rivals a cheque.

Gers were also slapped with a £4,168 fine after a fan invaded the pitch during the second leg of the previous round against Borussia Dortmund.
