Rangers pub hits out after being vandalised with anti-monarch graffiti in late night attack

A Rangers pub has hit out after being vandalised with anti-monarch graffiti in a late night attack. The Louden Tavern took to social media to slam messages left on the walls of the Copland Road venue which they branded a 'hate crime'.

Vandals spray-painted "F*** the King" next to the door of the pub, less than a day after the Queen's funeral in London. Another message painted on a white wall attacked the cost of the funeral while many are struggling during the cost of living crisis.

It read: "€8 million funeral while our country starves." Some commenting on the social media post in response were quick to point out the symbol used for the vandalism was a euro sign and not the pound.

Taking to Facebook early on Tuesday morning, the pub said: "So they continue… anyone who knows us know we try to give back to our local community and wider Glasgow area and Rangers fan base so thank you for the hate crime.

"Let’s hope they’ve been daft enough not to wear masks. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us."

They later added: "The irony that the graffiti will be cleaned by the council and therefore more money diverted from other causes due to it being a hate crime."

One person wrote in response: "Didn't realise the Louden was organising the funeral. That IS expensive, lads. Maybe should have been less ostentatious with the buffet."

Another added: "These folk don’t care about facts though, just bigotry."

A third wrote: "Absolutely disgusting."

Police Scotland and the Louden have been contacted for comment.
