Allan McGregor 6
Didn’t have a great deal to do other than pick the ball out of the net.
James Tavernier 7
His delivery from deep on the right was on point as always. Could have tucked in more to close the passing line for Taylor into Maeda for Celtic’s goal.
Connor Goldson 7
Like Tavernier for the first, he could’ve got over to Maeda quicker to try stop the cross for the opener, but committed as always.
Calvin Bassey 7
A solid showing from the young defender. Very comfortable in stepping out with the ball.
Borna Barisic 5
Once again caught sleeping at Parkhead. Totally switched off for Celtic’s goal, as Jota nipped in to score as he beat the Croatian Maeda’s cross. He’s been on good form in recent weeks, but he has no excuses for such schoolboy defending at this level.
Scott Arfield 6
Had a very quiet first half, as he struggled to get on the ball and make any sort of impact in helping his side go forward. Could’ve bagged the winner if it wasn’t for a brilliant reaction save from Hart in final ten minutes.
John Lundstram 8
Right up for it as per usual. His pressing and determination to win the ball back was impressive. His energy levels are up there with the best in the team.
Steven Davis 6
Not the Northern Ireland veteran’s most productive game. Stroked the ball about nicely as Gers made a strong start. After Celtic’s goal though the rest of the first half was a struggle for GvB’s midfield. Always does a steady job though.
Joe Aribo 6
Like Thursday night, he played in the false nine role. Was subbed off with the second leg in mind.
Fashion Sakala 8
Works tirelessly and his pace is an asset when trying to press. Everybody connected with the club will have been thrilled to see him score after criticism in recent times aimed his way. It was a well-worked goal, with his drilled finish beating Hart no ends up. He could’ve had another minutes later after a superb run in behind, but his shot was palmed over. Smacked the post too when he should’ve scored.
Ryan Kent 7
Did well to get across Ralston in early stages, but couldn’t direct shot on target. Beat his man several times when driving at defenders, even when Celtic doubled up on him.
Subs:
Ryan Jack (for Davis, 62’) 5
Helped keep the ball as Rangers enjoyed better of second period.
Scott Wright (for Wright, 62’) 5
Has pace to burn and won a couple of fouls in decent positions on the wing.
Amad Diallo (for Arfield, 86’) 2
Booked for professional foul.
