Rangers player ratings v Dundee as Steven Davis secures Premier Sports Cup progress and Hampden trip

Rangers have booked their spot in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final and with that a return to Hampden.

Steven Davis grabbed the only goal of the game as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side dumped Scottish Championship outfit Dundee to reach the last four and move to within potentially 90 minutes of a spot in the showpiece. The last four ties take place mid-January due to the World Cup Finals in Qatar with the final at the end of February.

The Light Blues were rarely threatened by their second tier opponents but the narrow scoreline kept the game alive throughout but the Ibrox men will see it as job done as they built on Sunday's away day success in the Premiership at Motherwell. The big games continue to come thick and fast for Rangers with Van Bronckhorst making seven changes for the quarter-final success. Here's how we rated the home side as they secured a trip to the national stadium.

Jon McLaughlin - 5

Handed a return to action after losing the No1 spot to Allan McGregor. Quiet evening but very alert as he raced off his line with 20 minutes to play to clear with Zak Rudden racing down on goal.

James Tavernier - 6

Skipper made his usual attacking runs. A changed side but the ever-present full-back wasn't afforded a rest. Another Hampden date to add to his calendar.

James Sands - 6

The versatile midfielder was back in his familiar role of centre-back this season. Comfortable night. Good at stepping out and picking out a pass. Will be eyeing up plenty top team minutes.

Leon King - 6

Another start for the youngster as he continues to gain valuable first team experience this year. Not troubled.

Ridvan Yilmaz - 6

Handed rare start with plenty of noise surrounding the big money signing. Got up and down. Very close to a goal after deflected cross but Legzdins did excellent to keep it out.

John Lundstram - 6

A key figure of this midfield. Giovanni van Bronckhorst rarely leaves him out. Always looking to move the ball.

Steven Davis - 7

Veteran midfielder opened the scoring after following up a smart save from Legzdins. Always a calm and composed head whenever he is involved.

Malik Tillman - 7

Looking back to his best. Tidy with the ball at his feet and on a high after his superb solo strike vs Motherwell. Solid display.

Fashion JR - 5

Handed a fifth start of the season. Failed to make the impact he would have hoped. Was well defended against.

Scott Wright - 6

Denied by an excellent save as Davis followed up effort. Close to finding the top corner soon after. Direct running and caused Dundee defence trouble. Looked very dangerous when turned the gas on.

Alfredo Morelos - 5

Striker had a big chance just after the half hour mark. Brilliant play from Tavernier to the striker but fires straight at Legzdins. Should have burst the net. Quiet game.

Kemar Roofe - 3

First minutes of any kind since the Europa League Final. A welcomed sight for the Light Blues faithful. 20 minutes in the tank.

Charlie McCann - 3

Youngster on for final 17 minutes. Another top team appearance and experience under his belt.

Scott Arfield - 3

On for final stages. Couple of touches of ball.
