Rangers player ratings as Ryan Jack bosses Bundesliga giants to show Ibrox side what they've been missing

Rangers fans are pinching themselves after one of the most incredible European results in the club's history.

The Westfalenstadion celebrated it's 1,000th game but it was the pocket of 500 Gers living it up in the aftermath of a 4-2 Europa League masterclass against Borussia Dortmund.

There wasn't a poor performance from anyone in a blue shirt but the likes of Ryan Jack and of course Alfredo Morelos will take the acclaim.

Gio van Bronckhorst and captain James Tavernier will be reminding the rest of the squad the battle is only halfway through and a certain Erling Haaland could be unleashed at Ibrox if fit in a weeks' time.

But try telling that to the Rangers support who will remember this night forever.

Here's how Record Sport rated the victors on a memorable evening.

Rangers player ratings

ALLAN McGREGOR: Would have expected a busy night on his 100th Euro appearance but the keeper barely had a save to make on a stunning night for his team. Blameless for Bellingham and Guerreiro’s well-hit strikes. 6

JAMES TAVERNIER: Fired over the corners which led to Gers’ first two goals and kept his cool to tuck home the pressure penalty. Matched Bellingham’s pace and threat well. 8

CONNOR GOLDSON: Had the odd shaky moment early on when Dortmund’s midfield runners threatened but was the solid rock at the back Gers needed as they stood firm. 7

CALVIN BASSEY: Got away with a wayward pass early on but his recovery pace was crucial on a couple of occasions as he chased down Dahoud and Malan to snuff out potential threats. 7

BORNA BARISIC: Wasted a huge opening early on as he failed to beat Gregor Kobel from close range but otherwise terrific response to the criticism for his Parkhead shocker. 7

RYAN JACK: Showed just what Rangers have missed during his year out of action. His side look so much more assured with his control and composure in midfield. 9

JOHN LUNDSTRAM: Had to be on his toes to keep the lively Brandt quiet but Dortmund will regret not keeping a closer tab on the former Sheffield United ace after he buried a stunning 20-yard strike for the third. 8

JOE ARIBO: Another who took stick for his part in the Celtic Park disaster but showed his true class with his energy and runs. Teed up the second with a flick on before rolling in Morelos again for the fourth. 8

SCOTT ARFIELD: Won’t grab many of the headlines but what a shift from the veteran midfielder as he hounded after Witsel and Dahoud time and time again. 7

RYAN KENT: He loves these big Euro nights and saved up another special performance. Sensational run past three challenges drew the space for Lundstram to lash home. 8

ALFREDO MORELOS: The Colombian’s red hot run under van Bronckhorst continues after another dream double made it 11 goals in his last 12 games. But it was his link play which set the tone for an astonishing win. 9

Subs:

JAMES SANDS (Arfield, 66): On midway through the second half as Gers looked to secure their winning margin. 4

AARON RAMSEY (Aribo, 86): Signed for big nights like this but Rangers didn’t need him to cause a sensation. 2

GLEN KAMARA (Jack, 86): Provided fresh legs as Dortmund chased a late lifeline. 2

SCOTT WRIGHT (Morelos, 90): On to kill time at the death.
