It was another afternoon to forget for Rangers at Parkhead as they were down and out before half-time in Celtic's backyard.
Lessons were supposed to have been learned from last February's collapse at this venue. But once again, the Ibrox side found themselves out of the game after just 45 minutes as the hosts raced into a three-goal lead without their rivals laying a glove on them.
This time, the champions rubbed salt in the wounds after the break. Jon McLaughlin perhaps sold himself a little early for the second goal, although you can take nothing away from Jota 's magnificent finish. There was no doubting the Gers keeper's culpability for David Turnbull's fourth, however. He made a mess of a pass out from the back and Celtic's press being as effective as it is, the midfielder was able to take a touch then roll the ball home to complete the derby humiliation for Gio van Bronckhorst 's side.
The Ibrox boss appeared to hold his hands up and apologise to the shellshocked away support a full-time. But his players are also due the fans an apology after another no-show in Glasgow's east end.
Here's how the Light Blues rated out of ten.
Rangers player ratings
JON McLAUGHLIN - Keeper got his hands to the Abada opener without being able to prevent it crossing the line. Through his legs for the third and an absolute howler to present Turnbull with a fourth. 5 .
JAMES TAVERNIER - Completely lost the battle on his team’s right against Jota. Caught out yet again at the third goal with sloppiness and swamped. Unable to make any contribution in an attacking sense. 5 .
JAMES SANDS - Named at centre-back and endured a nightmare outing as he was unable to get to grips with the home attack. American was unable to distribute properly under the intense strain and exposed. 4.
CONNOR GOLDSON - Centre-back faced a different physical test against Giakoumakis than expected against Kyogo and was posed missing during the pre-interval onslaught. Cynical booking for chopping Maeda. 4 .
BORNA BARISIC - Croat had his hands full with Abada. Lost him for the opening goal and booked for tugging him down. Some good first-half balls into the box when going forward, but nowhere near it defensively. 4 .
STEVEN DAVIS - Tried to get a hold of it in the middle of the pitch and get the game to a tempo without making any alteration to proceedings. Shot saved by Hart before the half-time break, but overrun. 5 .
GLEN KAMARA - Occupied an advanced area in the middle of the park in the first-half trying to get close to McGregor. Not able to do it or have any influence on the contest and hooked at the interval. 3.
JOHN LUNDSTRAM - Midfielder made the challenge which led to Kyogo going off. Forceful in the engine room and blazed one effort high and over. Tried to exert any influence and dominate without any success. 4 .
MAILK TILLMAN - Drifted infield from a starting position off the right and little impact in the opening period. Moved inside for the first 15 minutes after the restart before making way for Arfield. 4 .
RYAN KENT - Winger had some nice touches and darts in the opening period as he was hungry to get on the ball. Looked dangerous with one or two passages of play but there was no cutting edge or big moment. 5 .
ANTONIO COLAK - Striker had a glorious chance to level when he headed a Barisic cross wide. No more sighters as he was starved of chances and openings before making way on the hour mark for Morelos. 4 .
Substitutes
SCOTT WRIGHT - Took the role designated to Tillman and was kept under control by Taylor. 3 .
SCOTT ARFIELD - Sent into the midfield to try and add some bite and drive. In the box and whistle gone when Hart gifted him the ball. 4 .
ALFREDO MORELOS - Unable to get a Barasic cross under control in the box and another shot well wide. 3.
RYAN JACK - Too late to make any difference. 1 .
FASHION SAKALA - No Parkhead heroics for the attacker this time. 1 .
