Deutsch diver Jurgen Klinsmann was at Rugby Park to take a closer look at his South Korea star Oh Hyeon-gyu.
But it’s the Celtic faithful who really enjoyed what they saw as Ange Postecoglou’s side continued their unstoppable slide towards Premiership glory. Four first-half goals wrapped up the victory before half-time as the Hoops put on a show in front of the watching Klinsmann.
Nick Campbell, Edinburgh, said: “Celtic were at their irresistible best to have the job done in the first half - and all without Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Reo Hatate too. We didn’t have to break sweat after the break and it’s another three points closer to the title.” James McSorley, Bothwell, added: “Great to see Matt O'Riley coming back into form for the run-in. With a few goals and assists in the last few weeks, he’s been more like his old self and if he keeps it up will likely fire Celtic onto the Treble!”
Rangers shook off last week’s derby despair with a five-star showing against St Mirren. But Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, was frustrated to see his side allow Mark O’Hara a couple of goals in a less than convincing 5-2 win, saying: “I cant understand why Michael Beale won't play John Souttar on the right of a back three. Rangers’ defending of late has been shocking and with a tough trip to Pittodrie ahead we really need to tighten up.”
Meanwhile, the treatment of referees remained a hot topic with callers. Henry Moffat, Stirling, emailed in: “Our league is facing the biggest problem in its history with our referees clearly scared for their welfare to award against or deny penalties to Rangers Football Club.
“The intimidation and threats of their fans can clearly be seen in the mind boggling stats that show clearly that this is the case. The silence at the SFA is now utterly deafening.”
Jake Curley, Edinburgh, said: “Can’t believe Ange is so out of sync with his own supporters stating Rangers fans are wrong to blame Clancy for last week’s result. The Celtic support have bleated for 135 years that every referee and his assistants has an agenda against the club like no other.”
Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, added: “Good to see Postecoglou coming out in defence of Kevin Clancy. But where was he hiding when Douglas Ross was getting abuse from the Celtic fans?”
Hearts’ downward spiral continues after Saturday’s Edinburgh derby defeat and Roger Olton said: “Well, well. Stevie Naismith said the one thing we would see from Hearts was a desire to win and fight but they were all a disgrace and we will be lucky to see them win again this season.”
