Rangers offer injury update on Manchester United loanee Amad

Amad has suffered an injury that will see him miss Rangers' upcoming matches this week, though the knock isn't thought to be too serious.

The promising Manchester United forward moved north of the border on loan for the rest of the season in January in a bid to get more first-team experience. His opportunities had been limited under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford.

Despite making a strong start with a goal just five minutes into his debut, Amad has found things difficult as of late. He was hooked at half-time as Rangers were hammered by Old Firm rivals Celtic and he hasn't started any of the following four league matches.

The 19-year-old won't be involved in Wednesday's trip to St. Johnstone or the weekend's home encounter with Aberdeen. Gers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed that Amad is sidelined with four other players and won't be back until next week.

"Ramsey, Davis, Amad, Jack and Helander are not available for tomorrow. Hopefully he [Ramsey] will join the team very soon," the Dutchman said.

“He is already working out on the pitch again. He is very disappointed and looking forward to a return. Helander and Jack should be back for the weekend, Amad next week.”

Last week, Van Bronckhorst also gave an update on how Amad is progressing in Glasgow. He said: "He had a good start. You also know the change in environment for him is an aspect that he feels.

“Also the level of playing now. He played a couple of games with United but only in the reserves so the intensity that he will be feeling in Scotland is much higher.

“But you can see his quality and in the game last weekend against Dundee United when he came on, he had some good chances to score a goal. But he has to develop as you expect for a young player who hasn’t played much across the last months.”
