Rangers legend Ally McCoist has paid a touching tribute to Ibrox kitman Jimmy Bell after the 69-year-old passed away.
Former players, managers, staff and fans of the Ibrox club have paid their respects to the Wishaw man whose sudden death was announced on Tuesday and now McCoist has taken to social media to pay his respects.
Bell spent over 30 years at Ibrox, serving a series of managers from Graeme Souness to Gio van Bronckhorst and, of course, McCoist as both a player and gaffer.
During that time, Bell enjoyed the highs of trophy-laden success in the nine-in-row era to the lows of administration in 2012.
He was gearing up for Rangers' Europa League semi-final second leg with RB Leipzig on Thursday night when he passed away.
Rangers are aiming to reach a European final for the first time since 2008 when McCoist was assistant to the late Walter Smith, who died in October last year.
And as East Kilbride man McCoist shared a picture of himself with Bell, the legendary striker - who often referred to Smith as the "auld yin" - said he hoped the pair would be reunited in what has been a heartbreaking year for the Rangers family.
On his Instagram page, McCoist wrote: “Jimmy, you were there, pal. From Marseille to Manchester and from Brechin to Berwick.
“Can still see your face after we borrowed your bus at Turnberry before the cup final.
“You just knew what the club was all about. Standards.
"Sleep well, pal, and tell the auld yin we send our love.”
