Rangers legend Barry Ferguson is one of several candidates who are believed to be in the frame for the vacant East Kilbride job, after the Lowland League club parted company with Chris Aitken last night.
Aitken steered the K-Park club to second in the table, and has them in two cup quarter-finals, but announced on social media last night that he had taken the club for the final time in their 6-0 Lowland League Cup win over Gretna 2008.
Aitken took over from his brother Stephen, who stepped down from the role earlier this season.
So, who could be in the frame to take over from Aitken.
Barry Ferguson
Easily the most high-profile of the available candidates, Ferguson tried his hand at management at Blackpool, Clyde and Kelty Hearts, with different levels of success, before arriving at Alloa Athletic at the start of this season.
However, the 44-year-old announced his resignation on February 14, having endured a poor few months in charge of the League One club.
Gary Naysmith
Naysmith was down to the last two before Stephen Aitken got the nod two seasons ago, and is available, having left Edinburgh City on March 17, despite having the side in a League Two play-off slot.
The former Everton and Hearts star had been in the job for a year after replacing James McDonagh.
Naysmith, 43, has previous managerial experience at East Fife and Queen of the South, ans worked with Craig Levein during his time at Hearts.
David Proctor
Proctor has been in the frame for the East Kilbride job in the past, and is currently first-team coach at Lowland League rivals Cumbernauld Colts.
The 37-year-old had three spells at East Kilbride from 2016-2020 as a player, and also turned out for Inverness, Dundee United and Airdrie.
He was interim manager at East Kilbride alongside Craig Malcolm, following the departure of Jim Paterson, before Stevie Aitken was appointed in May.
Brian McGinty
East Kilbride native McGinty is another who has previously put his hat in the ring at East Kilbride.
The former Rangers, Airdrie and St Mirren forward has extensive lower league managerial experience with Bellshill Athletic, Rossvale and Irvine Meadow, before taking the manager's job at Cumnock in December.
Gus MacPherson
Former St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson might seem like an outside chance for the Kilby job, but he has been out of work since leaving Greenock Morton in December.
MacPherson, 53, brings a wealth of experience with him, having also been manager at Queen of the South and Queen's Park, and he won the old Scottish First Division with Saints in 2005-06.
