Rangers latest boardroom exit confirmed as businessman leaves to concentrate on 'other commitments'

Rangers have announced the departure of Barry Scott from his role as a director at the club.

It comes just days after communications director David Graham walked out of Ibrox for 'family and personal reasons.' He is a lifelong Rangers fan and returned to the board in 2018 after stepping down from it just five months previous in March of that year. Scott was part of a group that invested £6.5million in loans back in January 2016 and he has served during the chairmanship of Dave King and most recently Douglas Park.

He is based in Hong-Kong and has now stepped away from Rangers to put his attention to pursuing other ventures in business. RIFC have confirmed this news in a short statement: "Barry Scott has resigned as a director of the Company to pursue his other business commitments. The Directors wish him well in those endeavours."

It comes as on the park Rangers suffered a heavy defeat to Liverpool in their Champions League Group A match on matchday four.

Scott Arfield had fired Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men into the lead at Ibrox but the Reds fired back with SEVEN goals to record a massive victory in the Battle of Britain showdown. Super sub Mo Salah netted a hat-trick in six minutes while Roberto Firmino scored twice with Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott both on the scoresheet.

The Light Blues lost ever-present defender Connor Goldson to injury in the first half with Ryan Jack also hobbling off just before the hour mark.

The result - branded 'shocking for Scottish football' by Ally McCoist - leaves Rangers on zero points after four games.
