Rangers job would interest Graham Potter, claims ex-England keeper

If the Rangers job were to become available, Graham Potter WOULD be interested in taking the role.

That's according to a former England goalkeeper.

Paul Robinson claims he knows for a FACT that the former Swansea, Brighton and Chelsea head coach would be interested in potentially becoming Rangers manager.

Potter was touted with a switch north of the border this time last year after Michael Beale's sacking.

Philippe Clement, of course, took over and has been in the game for a little over 12 months now.

Potter was believed to be in the picture for the England national team job, but Thomas Tuchel was appointed two weeks ago.

With Erik ten Hag dismissed by Manchester United this morning, it seems Potter's name has already been linked with the hotseat at Old Trafford.

He's been out of a job for around 18 months since he left Chelsea, and in a recent appearance on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, he revealed he's waiting for his next opportunity in coaching.

Robinson believes that if Rangers were to be looking for a new manager at a stage where Potter is still out of work, then it would be something he'd consider.

“Rangers Football Club is a massive attraction for a manager to take over," the former keeper told Football Insider. "Managers don’t pick up jobs while teams are doing well. Going into Rangers now with the task to turn them around wouldn’t take a lot.

“There’s absolutely no doubt they can attract a big name like Potter, and he would be attracted by such a huge job. I know that for a fact.

“We’re talking about Glasgow Rangers. They’re one of the biggest and most well-known teams in world football. The following that they’ve got, the stadium they’ve got and the support they’ve got.

“Rangers and Celtic, regardless of the SPFL, are a huge draw all over the world. Absolutely, Rangers can attract a top name. Graham Potter is out of work, those are the type of managers they want to look at.”
